Minjung (MJ) Park
Final-year PhD student
Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian
Welcome!
Hi! I am "MJ" Minjung Park (she/her). I am a PhD student in Astronomy & Astrophysics at Harvard University. I work with Prof. Charlie Conroy studying galaxy formation and evolution in the early Universe.
I am interested in understanding how galaxies formed in the early universe and how they evolved throughout the history of the Universe. I use both ground- and space-based observations and SED models to infer their physical properties, e.g., SFH and metallicity.
I am involved in the Blue Jay collaboration (PI: Sirio Belli), JWST Cycle 1 program that obtained deep NIRSpec spectroscopy for 150 galaxies at 1.7<z<3.5 to study the stellar and interstellar medium of galaxies at cosmic noon. I use the SED fitting code Prospector to infer their stellar population properties.
Before joining Harvard, I did my master's and undergraduate at Yonsei University (South Korea) working with Prof. Sukyoung K. Yi. I studied the origin of galaxy morphology using the high-resolution cosmological "NewHorizon" simulation.
